There could be multiple reasons for Sentai being slow to respond. The internet connection might be a little slow. Or there is a slowdown in one of the cloud services used. If Sentai does not get a reply from its primary AI service within 6 seconds, it will switch to a backup. At rare occasions, Sentai will ask the user to repeat what has been said.
First, check that your device is powered and connected to the internet. If the issue persist, try saying "Hi Sentai, are you there?" If there's still no response, restart the device by unplugging it, wait for 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Should you have a consistent problem, please contact support.
The Sentai speaker will automatically update its firmware when connected to the internet. Normally, updates will happen at night. The speaker will restart and there is going to be a brief period of outage. Updates, unless it’s an urgent security update, will be announced in our release notes.
If the light go amber, and you hear a bing noise, it was likely to be a software update for the Sentai speaker that has been successfully completed. The noise is made when the speaker comes back online after the update.
Sentai’s lights go pink when Sentai is offline. App users will be alerted to this as reminders will not come through so the log will show ‘undelivered - offline’. Once Wi-Fi is available is available, Sentai will reconnect.
If you have frequent incidents of pink lights and incidents of slowness, check if your Wi-Fi connection might be poor where you placed the device.
