To set up your Sentai, download the Sentai mobile app and follow the step-by-step instructions to connect your speaker to your home Wi-Fi network and configure your preferences.
Sentai requires a stable internet connection to function properly, as it relies on cloud-based services for its voice recognition and communication features.
The Sentai speaker is a smart speaker that combines a microphone, speaker, presence and movement sensor, LED status lights, and a Zigbee hub for additional connectivity. It enables users to communicate with Sentai. It’s powered by a USB-C power supply that is delivered with the device.
Sentai has a built-in radar sensor in the Sentai speaker that can sense presence and motion. It’s not able to distinguish specific people, but it’s able to tell if someone is around.
Sentai has a microphone in the Sentai speaker that enables users to communicate with Sentai.
Sentai’s not listening all the time. The microphone in the Sentai speaker operates in a limited listening mode that processes audio locally without recording, storing, or transmitting any data to external servers. Only after the wake word is detected does the speaker begin to send audio data for processing.
To mute Sentai, say “Hi Sentai go mute” or press the button for 3 seconds until the red light appears. This will stop any incoming interactions. However, I will still listen for the wake word.
To unmute, just press the button or say “Hi Sentai, unmute”.
Postpone an interaction by mentioning a time, or number of minutes, or by just asking Sentai to come back later. If no timeframe is mentioned, Sentai will come back after 15min.
You can stop an interaction by pressing the button. Sentai will try again after 15 minutes. If you don’t want to be disturbed, ask Sentai to go mute, or press the button for 3 seconds until the lights on the device go red. If you want to unmute Sentai, press the button again once, or ask Sentai to unmute.
We are working on a feature that enables you to interrupt Sentai.
You can ask Sentai to increase or decrease the volume if you can’t hear it, or ask it to set it to maximum. The Sentai speaker has no physical volume buttons.
The blue light means Sentai is listening.
The amber light means Sentai is thinking.
The green light means Sentai is talking.
The white light means Sentai is on standby waiting for the wake word.
If the top of the white light is amber, it means a chat message is waiting to get delivered.
Times for all scheduled interactions can be changes in the Sentai App. If you don’t have the app ask the person who has set up Sentai for you.
To make the lights go off at night, edit the Day start and Day end values in the Sentai app.
Go to Wake-up and Bedtime in Settings.
Set the Day end and Day start times.
Between day end and day start Sentai runs in night mode. During night mode, Sentai will still respond to the wakeword, but the lights will be dimmed and no scheduled interactions will take place. Movement will be logged as night activity. So, it’s best to align day and and day start with the usual bedtime and wake-up times.
AI is used to synthesize Sentai’s speech, convert speech to text and text to speech, create conversational content, and intelligently interpret conversations for outcomes and mood. Sentai uses multiple services to deliver a best-in-class experience, for example Microsoft Azure for Speech-to-Text, and Open AI for content creation and analysis.
We currently support one speaker device per user account. We recommend placing this speaker in the main room of the home, in a corner, facing the room where users spend most of their time awake and engaging in conversation, reminders and tasks. The presence sensors are located in the front of the device, so it’s important they face the room.
Sentai Pro is Sentai for organisations such as care providers. Sentai Pro enables provision of digital care at scale through AI-delivered digital visits, and insight into care clients' behaviour and needs to help care providers better plan care delivery. Sentai Pro offers a web dashboard that enables care providers manage care recipients and carers, and carers to monitor the wellbeing of their care clients.
If the light go amber, and you hear a bing noise, it was likely to be a software update for the Sentai speaker that has been successfully completed. The noise is made when the speaker comes back online after the update.
There could be multiple reasons for Sentai being slow to respond. The internet connection might be a little slow. Or there is a slowdown in one of the cloud services used. If Sentai does not get a reply from its primary AI service within 6 seconds, it will switch to a backup. At rare occasions, Sentai will ask the user to repeat what has been said.
